CozyBlanket Documents

When a new target mesh is imported, a new CozyBlanket document is created on the CozyBlanket iOS document folder. This document contains both the target mesh and the edit mesh, including all its state related data (symmetry, face loop tags)

You can organize or rename CozyBlanket documents in the CozyBlanket into folders using the iOS Files app.

You can open a document by touching the Open Document button.

CozyBlanket saves changes CozyBlanket documents automatically when there are modifications.

Importing Target Meshes

There are multiple ways to import a target mesh into CozyBlanket:

  • By using the Import Button and selecting a model file.
  • By sharing a mesh from other iOS app and selecting CozyBlanket
  • By Airdrop sharing from another device.

When a target mesh is imported, a CozyBlanket document is created and you can start editing the retopology mesh.

High performance viewport.

When importing target meshes with a vertex count higher than a certain threshold (which is calculated taking into account the iPad available memory), CozyBlanket will switch automatically to a high performance viewport. This allows keeping memory usage as low as possible while maintaining usable framerates.

The high performance viewport decreases resolution while moving the camera in order to maintain an usable framerate.

CozyBlanket calculates the target mesh normals on import. We recommend using OBJ files without normals,UV, colors and material indices information when targeting CozyBlanket as the app will ignore this data.

Memory limit

CozyBlanket will attempt to import models of any size. When initializing the CozyBlanket document the memory usage can be higher than the memory currently available for the app, which may cause it to crash.

Replacing Target Meshes

You can replace the target mesh of the currently opened CozyBlanket document by holding down the import button and selecting “Replace current model”.

The edit mesh is preserved in world space when importing a different target mesh.

Exporting Files

You can export the current edit mesh as an .obj by using the Export button. This will display the iOS activity share popover. The last exported edit mesh is available in the CozyBlanket document folder as export.obj.

Startup Document

CozyBlanket can load a startup document when initializing the app. The startup document is not a “recently used” feature.

CozyBlanket includes a default startup document which is always read only. This document is bundled with the app and it is not accessible via the Files app.

If you create a Startup folder in the CozyBlanket document folder, CozyBlanket will randomly pick a random document from that folder each time you start the app. Changes to these documents will be saved as usual.

The Startup Document feature can be disabled in the app menu. In that case, CozyBlanket won’t load anything at startup.
